I feel you on that broadcasting thing. All those ABC specials make me cringe. Let me state though, I don't think all black women are stuck in the "strong independent black woman" mindset, but the ones who are tend to be the loudest and ruin the IMAGE (not reality) of black women. The perception is that black women don't need black men. If you were to watch those ABC Specials where "successful" black women were talking about men being intimidated by their success and this and that you'd believe that all black women thought that way. A lot do though, but not as overtly as people would think. This topic went way left field. My point is that black people have a long way to go before they can be consider unified by any merit.
I wanted to state that but I didn't wanna be labeled a racist.
that's the problem. you agreed with me and then said the opposite of my point.
You said
"you'd believe that all black women thought that way. A lot do though". I know you've seen white women say the same thing. Its all rhetoric that is not tied with race but more so a certain mindset.
The black women and white women who I've seen on TV say these things could simply be aggressive and turn men off and that's why they are single. But that's neither here nor there.
Then you mention
"black people have a long way to go before they can be unified by any merit".
The only thing that white people are unified on is the concept of white supremacy. Whether its extreme (KKK) or if its subtle (White people who associate with all races but feels that they are beneath them)
That is the only reason why they "seem" like they more as one its because any movements made under the premise of white supremacy appears to benefit the entire race. But in all actuality it is only a social benefit with no real substance.
If white people were so unified there wouldn't be so many divides in religion, politics, socio-economic status, gay people/straight people, ect.
The trick is, when black people have these dis-agreements then our issues are labeled as BLACK disagreements but when white people dis-agree then its is simply a disagreement amongst people. It makes our community look weaker when we call all problems "black problems". Dig deeper and find the TRUE common denominator.
