Depends on what you consider expensive, you ain't gonna find $2 shots and $15 buckets of coronas but also if you looking for that price range might as well go to Elizabeth or Paterson and hope the wolves don't get you
Guess I need to stay home then :manny:
Everybody here in NYC/NJ is on a hustle and bustle mentality and we don't have time for small talk. Women here are more about getting the paper and advancing themselves rather than getting married.

Also women here are in more situationships than actual relationships.
Typically with dudes that fit a certain mold (though this can be said everywhere) but based on OP's self-description he should be alright. But as far women it's feast or famine here.

lol i always find it funny when Jersey nikkas try to claim NY. look dog if you live in Jersey figure out your surroundings first. Dont worry about NYC.

After the first couple of times on that bridge and traffic you are gonna be sick of commuting to NY. Especially if you got your own whip you aint even gon find nowhere to park that bih.

my advice is to focus on the jersey side of things for now. Midtown manhattan aint really "NYC" like that. Just build your network through your co-workers and go out to NY every once in a blue for a party here or there. Take it from a NY native.

I know this may sound harsh but trust me, if you follow this state of mind you gon have more money in the bank, more peace of mind and a overall more pleasant experience in the Northeast.

Too many ppl go broke or crazy trying to live that "New York Lifestyle"

Stay FAR, FAR away from the beaches unless you like paying like $30/day to park there. Not even the WHOLE day, either. If you want to take advantage of the beaches, then your best bet is to get there mad early. Like 6-7 AM. Otherwise, you'll have to walk a couple miles to get there from where you parked. this is NOT an exaggeration.

If you take a trip to AC, DO NOT STRAY AWAY FROM THE CASINOS!!!!

Outside that area, it's grimey as FUKK. I'm saying this as a 'hood cat. Camden isn't as bad as the area outside the casinos.

Speaking of Camden, pass it and head to Philly for the Outlets. Taking route 130 to get there is a good idea if you start out early enough. I-95 during the summer is Gridlock Hell around the Lakewood/Freehold/Howell area. It's also bad around there for traffic due to Great Adventure. Route 9 sucks, but you can pretty much drive as fast as you want. Route 1 is an absolute nightmare around 5 - 8 AM and 3-6 PM.

Most people here during the summer are from North Jersey/NYC.

Most of them come here for either the beaches or Atlantic City, with another large group commuting to Philly or DC/VA.

OP will be taking the PATH to midtown, which means he likely won't be having a car to drive down to South Jersey like that.

What's up coli fam, I just moved to New Jersey in east ironbound, and I'll be working in midtown Manhattan. I'm 27 and travel a lot for work so I'll be going to CT, PA, DC, etc, but most of my time is going to be in NJ and NY.
I'm new out here so I'm working from a blank slate trying to get into activities and meet people and trying to make associates or maybe some friends. I don't know anybody out here, or what to get into off top, so I'm trying to be social and enjoy what's out here.

I'm in a groupme with a few NJ posters on the forum, and if any of the other NJ/NY posters have suggestions for a young business-breh who just moved, can you help out? What areas to avoid(that aren't obviously run down), what areas are good for young professionals, what gyms are good, etc?
What's the move?. :feedme:

Where are you originally from?

You gonna be driving to Manhattan or taking public transportation? Cause those tolls are murder

OP's mentioned he's taking the PATH train to the city. He won't be dealing with that crazy traffic across the GWB or the tunnels.
