What is an artist performer ? It has nothing to do with music. It's not an operational category. it's too wide. Actresses are also performing. People on Broadway are also performing.
Beyonce is a musician, a singer first. Whitney is also a singer, so is Aretha. That's how you compare them.
If you want, Beyonce is the Goat female performer (whatever than means) but she's not the best female singer or musician.

for my money, I can name many singers that I would rather listen to over Beyonce. Winehouse and Adele are better to not to mention all time greats like Mariah, Aretha, Ripperton, Denise williams etc......but no modern female act has the total package of beyonce. Only Tina Turner is comparable and then maybe janet jackson on a lesser level.

Michael Jackson is a gift and a curse for performers IMO. The curse is that I think a lot of people have taken the wrong message from his performances, which is that the spectacle is more important than the music. Meaning you need big lights, big explosions, big skits, etc etc to make a live performance great...at the cost of the music.
I "like" Beyonce. Her music isn't particularly compelling to me, but she has some songs I like. Watching the clips in the OP and scattered throughout this thread I'm not really hearing a good performance. Instead I'm seeing a spectacle. A lot of things thrown at you, like a blockbuster movie. Obviously that's what people want these days, and it's why Marvel movies dominate yearly. But when you get beyond the hype, is that shyt legitimately good? In Beyonce's case I'm just not really sold. It's always the same over-singing/yelling. Especially with her newer music, where the songwriting kinda takes a backseat to beats and hooks.
