disagree he overpaid??? 3 yr/$25 mil with $15 mil of that on the last year and even when he did trade him, his team was still on the hook for $8-10 mil??? that's not over paying? All that for a dude who was avg 3 & 5?

What do you think the going rate for big men is Bruh? :why:

Dude can get you a double double most nights and play defense for under 10 mil per (salary cap dollars). And you just said you don't need any analytics but you're basing his value on stats put up in limited minutes.

It's weird to me that people are bringing up every Rockets misstep like it somehow disproves the value of analytics. Pretty much every team is using them in some way, Morey is just more visible.

even if his min were double (which would've put him at 30 min per) you still willing to give a big man that much $$$$ for 6 & 10? i didn't need analytics to show me that Asik wasn't an offensive force and a slightly below avg rim defender.....everyone clowned that signing with the exception of GUESS WHO?

ok, people have to stop using the grizzlies as an example of analytics.

the core of that team(z-bo, gasol, and conley) were there and established long before the geek squad showed up.

the rudy gay had nothing to do with analytics. it had everything to do with the fact that he was making they were near the luxury tax and he was $17 mil a year.

they've done good complimenting the core, but this is not an analytical-based team by any stretch, especially their style of play.

Which is exactly why I mentioned the Grizz a couple of pages before. Hollinger does not have much of an imprint on the core of the Grizzlies that make them competitive in the west.

:mindblown::dahell::youngsabo:

We paid bout 5 mil for a dude that averaged a double double and was an elite rim protector at the time (I'd tell you to check the numbers but you don't need advanced stats). Then we got Dwight and had an elite backup center for bout 5 mil again. You flat out have a piss poor understanding of nba contracts if you think he overpaid for that production. I have a bridge to sell anyone that thinks Morey wasn't gonna flip at least one of Lin/Asik in the final year and it so happened he traded both. You keep saying you don't need analytics but you can't understand why that was a great value that most people didn't see at the time (and in your case presently). You're making my point for me thanks.

Morey is the same dumbass that used NBA Live to scout talent. Chuck is right.
nikka could have at least used a good game. :salka:

But anyway, the best way to use advanced stats is alongside the almighty eye test. Nobody wants to get rid of using common sense......i hope:lol7414:

Team balance and basketball fundamentals will always beat fancy calculations.

HOU was on the hook for $18 mil of that $25 mil for just 130 games, 8.5 pts 10 rebs, & 0.9 blocks (:mjlol: at elite rim protector).....yeea he traded them both but he wasted $16 mil of his cap to do so....and they had to attach a 1st rd pick to get rid of Lin....trade Asik for a future 1st and to clear space to chase Lebron, Melo or Bosh (which he failed to do).. AGAIN, what was gained or better yet, what's his end game?

a team that relies on 3's, layups, and very few post-ups.

players like z-bo are frowned upon in the geek squad.

Spurs? I don't think "analytics" frown on guys who can post up and rebound at all. In fact having a low post threat gets you more/better 3pt shots. Morey did sign Howard.:ld:
