He definitely in the conversation and I don't get why so many of my fellow :flabbynsick: brehs act so insecure about it

We don't got to put him over Pac, BIG, Nas, Jay, Cube, Rakim, whoever. But his generation absolutely see him that way. No reason to dismiss his combination of artistry and ability to connect with a global audience, it's rare. Can't say I find myself wanting to return to his catalog that often outside GKMC, but he's crazy talented.

He in my top 5.
But I don't look at commercial success when it comes to bars. That's just me.
In my heart I still don't feel he a better rapper bar for bar than Lupe.
But thats is just me.. .

He was in my top 20 before, after this week I'm thinking he's probably top 10. My only hope now is he gets away from the more artsy experimental stuff and he gives us a hard hitting rap album...give us your Makaveli, Kenny

Somebody link a classic banger from Kendrick that gets everyone out their chair when it comes on..

Cause that's what is missing in my ears. He's hella dope, but dudes like Biz, Greg Nice, and ODB who aren't the "best" rappers have smash hits that burn to this day.
Humble, Swimming Pools, King Kunta, bytch Don’t Kill My Vibe, Alright, fukkin Problems (verse)

Just to name a few

Dot is in my top 10, maybe top 10-15

The argument when comparing him to past era emcees would be, how come none of his contemporaries are seen in the same light as him?

Supposedly no one else from his era have any classic albums, this, that & the third.

You talking from a rapper standpoint, or catalog wise? Nas is a better mcee though, but imo kendrick has the better catalog. But considering Nas dropped amazing projects too, I still believe he better than Kendrick

Nah.

And the 4–5 classics shyt is a stretch.
He was being facetious.

That's not really a Kendrick problem.

You dont think Kendrick has an advantage dominating a weaker era?
Being an outlier is just the byproduct, and the weaker era is not within his control.

The game changed and lyrical ability/technical skill/MC integrity is no longer the priority. Labels watered it down, but social media and fan choice supercharged the image/lifestyle of rap completely cannibalizing the craft of rapping.

If anything Kendrick should be seen as the last of a dead breed, which would help folks understand that he'd be just fine if he was born in 72 instead of 87. He's a student of the game, a master at artistic narrative and picture painting, and elite album curator.

Not real life but this is like assuming Luke Skywalker couldn't compare to old Jedi/Sith if he was born in that era.

To use real life, if Ice Cube is considered an elite rapper and GOAT contender by many/most, there's no reason to believe Kendrick couldn't deal with the 90s.

Breh was top 10 from Rigamortis in my mind.

Don’t get spitters like that often in a lifetime.
