PARIS -- The woman considered France's first lady was hospitalized after a report the president is having an affair with an actress, her office said Sunday, as a poll was released showing the French shrugging off any liaison as none of their business.
Valerie Trierweiler was hospitalized Friday — the day the magazine report and photo spread came out — for "rest and a few tests," said her chief of staff, Patrice Biancone. He said she was expected to leave Monday.
Hollande has never married but has had longtime relationships with Trierweiler and before her with French Socialist presidential candidate Segolene Royal, with whom he has four children. Rumors have circulated for months that he might have another lover.
French media face strict privacy laws, but in recent years have chipped away at the tradition of ignoring the private lives of public figures.
The magazine Closer published images Friday showing a bodyguard and a helmeted man it said was Hollande visiting Julie Gayet, 41, a moderately known French actress who appeared in a clip for his 2012 presidential campaign.
Hollande's popularity is already at historic lows over his failure to improve the economy, but a poll released over the weekend indicated the latest developments left the majority of French untroubled.
According to the Ifop poll for the weekly Journal du dimanche, 77 percent of those asked believed the liaison should be private. The poll was released before the hospitalization of Trierweiler was made public.
Hollande himself would agree, saying in a statement that he was weighing possible legal action for "the attacks on respect for privacy, to which each citizen has a right."
For a president whose approval ratings hover around 25 percent, however, the weekend survey had less good news. More than 8 in 10 said their opinion of him had not changed.
The telephone poll of 1,025 adults was conducted on Friday and Saturday. No margin of error was given in Sunday's publication of its results, but such polls often have one of about 3 percentage points.

In 2007, she founded her own production company with another woman called Rouge International.
And she’s married herself. Gayet wed writer and scenarist Santiago Amigorena in 2003 and had two children with him. The couple is separated, though not officially divorced.

the moment you are worried about losing a female is the moment you lost in my opinion.
i've been talking to this new girl lately and went out a couple times, she's mad cool but before now when I was at this stage with other girls I had this afraid to lose them mentality. example if they texted me and I was doing something I would maybe not respond to the text right away but i'd be thinking about it and then eventually respond - this right here isn't good. I was afraid of losing them and I wanted to respond so I wouldn't lose her attention. Last night a girl i'm talking to texted me but I tried to take a different mentality, as in don't be afraid to lose them.

nah, times are different. We all don't get together like we use to because many people have SOs, married, or kids. We just happen to get together yesterday for my boy's b-day. She's definitely part of the circle but she lives a little further from us all so we don't kick it as often. And with times being different, we all rarely see each other.
That's what I figured. Considering we crossed the line, I can either say fukk it and make her my jump off or just pretend nothing happened. Her and I have said zero words about the incident. Prior to us smashing, ol girl hadn't been dikked down in over 3 years.

Anyways, long story short, I ended up smashing a good girlfriend of mine. We've been friends for over 10+ years and ended up between the sheets this past Halloween. We both agreed that this is it and that we're definitely not a match when it comes to getting serious. However, since we kissed that night, we went all in. Sex was good but that was it. Our communication became shotty and that's a given because it will be a little awkard to get girl advice after we had sex a few months ago. Welp, I ended up seeing her yesterday since our "incident". No one in our immediate circle knows what happens and things seemed cool. But I can't front my brehs, seeing them thick thighs and big booty, my dikk wants more
She mentioned prior to us hooking up that she's never had a booty call and I always wondered if she was just telling ME that I may be a candidate. Didn't think anything at first but after the sex, it raised the lightbulb.
So should I let it be or keep it moving? I know dealing with these situations can be touchy but if she wants dikk and knows we have no future, should I go for it or should I play it safe and keep it moving?
My opinion? Keep it pushing. If you know you have no future together, and something like a pregnancy comes up, you've already put yourself in an extremely touchy situation because you already know you can't see yourself with her.
Men are taught to have a simplistic mindset these days that essentially boils down to letting their penis lead them. They are taught, "If she offers, you need to take it." Contrary to what is said, I believe men and women can be very cool, but you can't expect female friends to be like male friends. As soon as you turn things sexual though, everything shifts. So if you're fine with potentially not seeing her or being cool with her again, that's exactly what sexing her will get you. The deed has already been done, so it is what it is.... but if you can't see yourself together with her for the long-term, having someone that close to you who has the potential to get emotional can cause a lot of problems.

Man, I don't even know why he would wife her after she admits to sleeping around right before she met him. And she's like a strong 6/10.
