@All-Black the Necroverse yo when you lift legs two times in a week do you switch up your routine and how much weight you use for squats. I’m all about reps so I usually hit 3 sets of everything working my way up to 275. Also what’s the best way to get that tear drop muscle?
1. It depends. Normally, no, not really, unless I'm running Layne Norton's PHAT program which has low-reps on the first leg day and high reps on the second. If I'm running something else that only hits legs twice a week (like a PPL), I'll usually do the same routine and increase the weight as planned/prescribed.
Example: PPL
I'll start of with a Back Squat, maybe 3 working sets and some singles, following a 5/3/1 progression.
Then move on to another compound like deads or front squats.
Then start accessory lifts (Leg Press, Leg Extensions, Leg Curls, var Calf raises, Ab stuff, etc.), essentially in that order.
The next leg day I'll do the same thing and either increase the reps, increase the weight, or keep everything the same for the
accessories. The compounds are not programmed the same way.
2. Most of my workout programs actually involve hitting legs 3x a week (like Upper/Lower x3). Programs like that have different leg days altogether.
My squat usually regresses at anything less than 3 times a week, so it's rare for me to run PHAT or even PPL (unless I add front squats to my Pull days).
3. As far the VMO (tear drop) development goes, doing hack squats, lunges, leg extensions, and even leg presses with your feet close together will help.
Good luck.
