Squatted @275 today for 2 reps . When i tried to go for the second rep i couldnt make it, reset then got it right on the next attempt

Going forward, I am not sure if I should focus solely on cardio or if I should continue strength training as well. I don't want to turn around and gain the weight that I've just lost. I have a plethora of home equipment, but I am back in the gym for the professional machines.
Calisthenics has been my go-to choice of exercise when I am traveling and it works well for me. If I find myself picking up pounds because of exercise/lifting, then I will revert back to calisthenics and/or incorporate running into my regimen. My main goal is trying to reach 135 now.
Nothing magical about fasting, it's just a way for you to reduce your caloric intake.
Strength training is important for body composition, more important than cardio (and it takes less time). You should also do some form of strength training to combat osteoporosis as you age.
@The ADD
I don't typically fast for caloric restriction. It's mostly done for discipline/self control and spiritual reasons, which is why I do it regularly. I also find myself fasting unintentionally during hectic times in my life, when I typically lose my appetite. That is the space that I am currently in.
I eat a pretty well balanced diet overall, and I don't deprive myself if I am craving something (carbs, or even sugar).
I had been strength training, but I wasn't sure if I should continue because I wanted to lean out. I will continue. You're right, it does so much more for the body than just toning.
Thanks so much for the advice!
Got cleared of my injury restrictions from work. Back to the gym![]()
As far as the strength training thing, the number one misconception most ladies have is that cardio > lifting for fat loss, body composition, aesthetics, etc. when it almost always the opposite that's the case. Building muscle will lean you out as the muscle burns calories just existing on your frame.
Also, remember that you cannot "tone" per se, you can only gain or lose body fat and build or lose muscle. Things like muscle shape and insertion points and tendon lengths are genetically determined and can only otherwise be affected by surgery.
Good luck and keep this thread in the back of your mind moving forward (that other one is no bueno).
That's cause it comes from folks who can't squat the bar by itself..... i.e. Weak Ass bytch Nikka Babble.......After reading the last few posts(and other similar ones in this thread) I still amazed that some think this is most toxic thread on these forums![]()

What was it?Setting a PR on deadlift is more satisfying than setting a PR on bench press.
Don't at me.
