One motivating thing about the new gym is the change in demographics. Old gym was in a more trendy area of Atlanta and this place is outside the city proper. Lots of black people of all ages working out in the early AM. Good to see us trying to stay active, especially in my age range of 45+

First day back on the 5AM gym routine.

It was upper day and my regular lifts felt so damn heavy…I see why some people don’t take too much time off lol.

By President’s Day (Feb 16) I should be back to my pre-holiday strength and endurance. Knock off some of holiday weight and keep pushing through.

We move.

Back from a very long holiday and well needed one.

First DEXA scan this coming Saturday and after that I’ll be doing quarterly check-in to see my progress.

So pumped for 2026. From now until June I have nothing that should mess up my routine.

Locked in.
Do you need a prescription for a DEXA scan?

First soccer game yesterday and played about 75-80%. Good workout but no lunges or crazy sprints. Groin is not 100% there even after 4ish months of rest. Getting started on PT next week.

DEXA scan today. Feels good to get my baseline for 2026. I've still kept off 95% of the weight I lost last year, but this year I'm gonna be a lot tighter on my nutrition and progress tracking.

Weekly weigh-ins and progress pics. Quarterly DEXA scans.

Also gonna get back to fasting for 24 hours once a week. It was something I did in college for mental benefits and I need to get back to it.

System in place, timeline established. Now, just to be consistent. 5x a week in the gym; 2 heavy days and 3 lighter hypertrophy days so I don't overtrain. We move.

DEXA scan was yesterday. Results are in line with my expectations for the end of 2025.

Get back on program, get back to PT and I’ll be back on track in a few weeks.

First day back in the gym today for 2026. Leg days will be interesting this year. No barbell squats for me until at least summer starts.

Want to ease my lower back and groin into the grind slowly.

Sustainably is the big thing for me this year. I don’t want to blow out like I did towards the end of last year.

7/10 for 5/7 days is better than 10/10 for 3/7 days.

We move.

The cold makes it so tough for me to stick to my gym routine, energy levels just go down so much.

I need 70 degrees asap

This is one thing I know I’ll miss about Cali when I get up outta here.

This perfect weather near 24/7 is really a cheat code to fitness. Outside of the handful of days it rains in a year, you can be outdoors and active year round.

Good leg day this AM. Still no barbell squats or DLs.

I can do walking lunges, goblet squats, RDLs and all the various machines. Lighter weights, more reps though.

I’m also doing some band work to build up my inner thigh muscles (got this from PT).

Essentially building up my leg muscles slowly and sustainably. That groin injury really did a number on me but I can still play moderately intense soccer once a week and I can tell my lifts will come back soon.

Next 8-9 weeks should be good. I’m back in the swing of things.

We move.
