Today's workout man
, just as much psychological as physical.
A) 20 min to find a 1RM push jerk
B) 5 rounds for time
5 shoulder to overhead (@ 80% of 1RM push jerk)
15 toes to bar
Part A becomes an ego lifting race, chasing that big #. Problem is that sets the benchmark for part B, and part A is from the rack while part B is from the floor. So at minimum you're adding at least 5 cleans to the workout (assuming you don't break up any of the S2OHs). I stopped myself at 225# on part A knowing what I was getting into for part B. It didn't matter though, even push jerking 180# to get it overhead 5x5 times is a lot of movement. I caught a couple of cleans to the trachea, really fukked my breathing up. Oh, and I absolutely suck at toes to bar. So the first round took me about 1:27, the last round took me about 3:46, the whole workout took me 14:43 just to put it into perspective. Some of these guys in my class are doing more weight than me and in finishing in sub 10:00. Watching other people crush the same workout is a double edge sword, it's motivational but can also be soul crushing when you're struggling to finish. Very mental day today. I'm learning a lot about how to approach these workouts in your mind first before you body gets started.
