The “intentional” dating phrase came about because folks got tired of dating someone who strung them along for a month or two; and in some cases longer only to cut and run when the relationship tried to progress. A lot of men and women in the dating pool have no direction. Most things in life have a goal in mind and dating is no different. For example, some may want to just have sex and hangout sometimes, some may want a full blown relationship. The hangup is a person you meet may not be interested in going in the same direction you’re going dating wise but it’s not said upfront.

They aren’t truthful with their “intentions” and will string you along until one of you ask for more than the other. I think dating with “intention” is good because it helps set boundaries EARLY in the interaction and frames your thought into “do I even like this person and are they looking for the same thing I’m looking for”.

Basically it’s all about finding like minded individuals who want the same things which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We need more of that. It prevents a lot of “I’m just going with the flow but secretly don’t want anything serious” women and men.

All good points, but two counters:

Isn't there some kind of personal responsibility involved, when someone is "stringing you along", to assess the situation, or just ask the question? You can never prevent someone from being less than honest with you.

Is creating rigid boundaries a real solution? Life isn't like The Bachelor, where you are placed in a house with a dozen people. This is only me, but the women who I really fell in love with, we never planned it, it just happened from being together. Imagine at age 18, telling someone "yeah we can go to the movies, but are you dating me intentionally"?

but to your points, I think a lot of people do think like that. Hence a lot of the language about checking boxes. Like minded individuals. I like the more risky, the more intense. But I think that is part of what love/lust/vulnerability is, it's a risk.

Just going off on a tangent here, but when a man, no matter what his face looks like, no matter what his BMI looks like, if he got some money, he thinks that standing on couple hundred thousand a year means he deserves some 23 year old IG baddie, or whatever his particular type is.

The money gives him means, options, and confidence, sure - but most of all, he feels ENTITLED.

Now, with women making more and more money, no matter what she looks like, her face, her body, her whatever - she feels ENTITLED to a Shemar Moore or whoever they're jilling off to over at LSA.

She's thinking, that I've "leveled up" and where's my strong, bearded, tall man to complete the perfect picture...

Oh that's what a lot of women I know look like on social media for sure. I think one of the key points of a change in culture is everyone becoming a brand, and how that changes your worldview. Rewires basic human emotions.

For example, in 2008, people did not think like this, or act like this. Their experiences, their looks, their dinners were personal reflections, not part of a curated look.

Based on broads I would smash on IG - it's all "luxury/ celeb" lifestyle. Which is very feasible/fake -able
