brehs... How did this "happy wife, happy life" culture originate? Where did it come from and why are men so comfortable perpetuating it?

I swear every day I used to hear a white dude at my job say something like, "I'm the boss. Except when I'm around my wife Julie, boy she runs things" And these are men in high positions too.

I'm just curious where it came from.

I was gonna make this thread, but TLR is so awful these days I held my tongue.

But it seems like mostly white dudes and white washed dudes of other races adhere to this. "Oh you're gonna be sleeping on the couch tonight...the wifes not happy."

I just listen like, y'all gotta be joking right? :dwillhuh:

I never saw this in m house growing up unless it was on a TV show. I mean each spouse should strive to make each other happy.

But yeah it's mostly the white guys in office settings, b/c Billy Bob who works all day in the heat at the local steel mill ain't lettin his wife run over him like that. lol

This very reason is why i am becoming more and more against relationships because it gives women power. Power to "run" and "control" things.

i am comfortable being on my own, living on my own, doing whatever i want, achieving what i want, etc....so fukk tryna pander to someone else and relinquish all of that.

its not something i'd say out loud. but it comes from men lowkey braggin about their wives

the one i really laugh at is when dudes say "i make the money, my wife pays the bills"

It's just men have been brainwashed that they buy into that nonsense. I'm about BOTH sides making each other happy, but if a woman thinks she's going to make my life miserable because she's miserable, she has it twisted.

lol i understand where u r coming from. but there are some times u may wanna sleep on the couch or in the basement....i.e. ur wife is mad because she feels the waitress or another chick u both know is being way to friendly.

or even worse, if she sees evidence u may be cheating. in those cases, it would behoove u to sleep on the couch lest u wake up in the middle of night to a nasty brawl lol.

sleeping next to a person who loves u and is mad at u at the same time can be a very bad idea. at any moment, while u are sleeping and shes staring at u, she may do things to u just because of the proximity. lol. i mean, u think it is far fetch but its not. we all know how emotional women can be.

That's what it comes down to. You can't control what someone else does, but you can control what you do. Building your own life and making sure you're stable is definitely where it's at. Just about all of us would like to have a nice, sweet loyal woman, but you can't force a woman into that role, so until she comes about, there's no use in putting your life on hold and feeling miserable.

Nah....the idea is that you had an argument with your spouse or you did something (on a much smaller level than cheating) "wrong", and so she put you out on the couch. The couch is supposed to be uncomfortable, you can't get a good nights sleep, you're alone, and it represents a punishment. And when the wife is "ready" to forgive you in a couple nights, you can come back to the bed.

The bed that YOU paid for, in the house YOU pay for....and even if you don't pay for either, it's still less than a man to live that way.

im not advocating sleeping on a couch because ur wife tells u to. i'm advocating doing it off ur own volition. by choice. for ur safety. lol. not because of whatever crap these idiots are trying to sell u on tv.
