How important is direct ab work?

I have NEVER done it.

Im about 5 to 10lbs away from my cut goal and I can see my abs (I guess from doing squats and presses).

But I decided to search youtube for a ab workout just to see how strong my midsection is.

I did the workout below, and on the second exercise my whole stomach cramped up...I never felt shyt like that.
Im hella weak on the abs...I could have sworn my shyt was correct from the way they look now :dwillhuh:

It’s not that you are weak there. You just haven’t trained them in that manner.

Trying to decide how to increase weight on my leg press. Currently doing 6 45lb plates, 3x12 wide, 3x10 narrow. Wanna increase load so I’m maxing at 3x10 wide and 3x8 narrow. It’s either add 20 more pounds or 40, ain’t nobody trying to load more than 3 plates per side :beli:
I do 12 plates :sas2:
