Ayo planet fitness ain’t that bad.

I recently moved and a PF is literally across the street so I went to hit it up for a free day pass during peak hours.

Nothing but old people and youngins not knowing what the fukk they’re doing. No steroids nikkaz trying to show out or whores coming in half naked with tripods.

If you ain’t trying to deadlift 600lbs or do power cleans, this is the spot for the price.

It's bad in the sense that they only have smith machines which means you never learn to lift properly there. That said, most people just want to be in decent shape so its the perfect gym for the average person.

I have and my wife has as well.

Personal trainers are only as good as you make them. If you half ass the workouts and half ass the nutrition it’s going to be a waste of $. The gym I’m at had a ton of personal trainers and they have plenty of clients that look the same after 4 years because they coast. The trainers keep the hamster wheel going because it’s steady income.

I would really decide what you want out of it before doing it because you will maximize your spend by helping them build a program that works best for you.

I could rant on this for a while so happy to say more after you read my initial rant

I appreciate that perspective. I was asking because lately, while I have been consistently showing up, I don't really have a training program per se. I like to do my research on effective workouts, what good technique looks like, and picking up nutrition tips here and there but I am the type of person that does what I feel like doing most of the time. Hell, I haven't been keeping track of my numbers at all the past couple months. I feel like eventually I'm going hit a wall and need to apply some actual structure.

At the moment I'm looking at either joining a muy thai gym, taking strength and conditioning classes(it's at the same muy thai gym) or looking at a personal trainer for advice on combining weight training with the calisthenics I'm already doing

I actually really started with group fitness training. It was cool, really enjoyed and it was a good first step for me.

I don’t know that getting a personal trainer for advice on weight training with calisthenics is worth the money. What’s the motivation there?

Man, sometimes I type on here like English is my third language. I'm looking for someone to help me transition into doing weight training in the gym. Like a solid regime covering the basics of what I'm missing out on by only doing calisthenics. I know for sure my legs could use more work

I agree with what @The ADD said about personal training. My first question would be, why do you want to start weight lifting? Hiring a trainer would help you with learning form and technique for lifts but it's also an investment in something that you may not even like. I would read Starting Strength and follow that routine with just the bar. If possible record yourself lifting so you can see your form and make improvements to it before you start moving up in weight.

Also most PTs aren’t going to have you solely working on lifts. It’s going to be a hybrid model. Also plenty of PT’s clients had shyt form. For example



Paying for a 30 minute or 60 minute session isn’t a good spend IMO. Programs like Starting Strength are proven. Use that initially and see how it goes.

I liked my main PT I had a lot, good dude and was wild cheap. That said I made most of my lifting progress by readying and using programs like 5x5 and PHAT.

I was thinking about trying out Plant Fitness. I currently have 24hr Fitness, and all of the 24hr locations in my area are nasty and the equipment is broken.

The ones I go to is full of young people wearing pajamas, and overweight tough guys (ese's) who can only bench 185 for 3 reps and get and try to mad dog people lol. It's crazy

5/5 this week. Wrapped up my shoulder and arm day by 7:30am

7/7 for May and starting a new 8-week regime next week. We move.

The weather this weekend will be amazing. I’ll get some football action tomorrow morning then thinking about a 30-35mil ride on Sunday.

I usually do the North Bay or East Bay but I think I’ll ride the Peninsula this time around. Palo Alto and the areas surrounding Stanford Uni have some of the best and most scenic trails. Can’t wait.

This. I had been running Lyle McDonald’s General Bulking plan for most of last year and saw gains. It’s actually my default plan when things get hectic since it’s very straightforward.

I have the workout imprinted in my head.

My nephew said he wants to work out with me and I'm debating on whether i should show mercy or not
