Starting Strength or basically some variation of a 5x5

Starting Strength is what I would recommend but you're going to struggle with recovery. I wouldn't recommend trying to do both.
This seems like a relatively basic programme, no accessory work at first glance, but perhaps I am only seeing the novice programming. I would say I am on an intermediate level. But I'll have to see if I can find the books, they might offer more insights.

Well your stated goal was to build strength without a high intensity workload. This speaks exactly to what you stated you wanted.

Why would you say you're on an intermediate level?

True, but I meant that compared to the high intensity/fast paced workout structure of crossfit. I should've clarified it's more about the pace.

Just based on my 1RMs and the scaling I have to do with the workouts I do now. Crossfit got me to actually enjoy working out, but its not the most efficient way to build muscle, so I want to combine it with some pure lifting.
Found the Starting Strength books though, so gonna try it out this week, see how I feel.

I asked because the way you are asking questions leads me to believe you are still in the beginning stages. First you said you want to build strength but now you say you want to build muscle. Not taking shots but this is one of the reasons why I recommended Starting Strength. Truthfully, I don't see how you would have the energy to do Crossfit and Starting Strength effectively and get good results.

This always happens. State a goal and then refute the suggestion with another goal :snoop:

Thanks for the insights. The muscle/strength mix-up might me due to english being my second language. I'll read up on starting strength and see how it goes. Doing less Crossfit style workouts was always going to be the case, but I hope to find a somewhat good combination.

Just want to prepare you. Starting Strength is not going to give you the results you want unless you commit to it fully and you will not be able to do that if you will continue to do Crossfit. Personally I would pause Crossfit for 3 months, do Starting Strength (or another program) for those 3 months, and then re-evaluate my goal.
